Aloo paratha is a super easy to make and can be included as part of any meal during the day.
The below recipe is extremely quick to finish on a busy day and can be modified to make for the whole family as well. While the traditional recipe calls for making the filling separately, this is more of a short-cut version that’s especially convenient for busy moms who are looking for a easy to cook healthy meal for their babies.
How to to serve babies at 6-9M
You can cut the thick paratha in long strips and place it front of the baby on their highchair tray to pick up and eat. Resist the urge to correct them or make it easier. I’ve noticed as long as we stay calm and don’t interfere, babies will figure out the best way to eat on their own 🙂
Our experience: We introduced this to S when he was 6.5 months old. Initially S found the pieces too long, but he figured out a way to hold it in a way that puts the end in his mouth. As the pieces broke off, he picked up the pieces that were more conveniently sized for him off the tray and tried chewing on those. Patience is key.
Aloo Paratha for babies
Description
Aloo Paratha (Potato Stuffed Flatbread) Hearty, satisfying and unbelievably delicious!
Ingredients for Aloo Parata
Instructions
-
Boil the potato in pressure cooker until soft.
-
Peel the skin from the cooked potato and mash it well.
-
Add a pinch of turmeric to this along with 1 tbsp Atta. Coriander powder optional.
-
Mix and knead well. We are looking for a consistency that is more potato and less atta.
-
Sprinkle little flour and roll it to out thick (so the baby is able to pick and hold it).
-
Heat the tava. Smear ghee on the tava and once heated cook the paratha evenly on both sides.
Instead of ghee, you can also use unsalted butter.
Note
You can increase the quantity above and make for adults as well. For adults modify by adding salt as required, chili powder and coriander powder while kneading the dough.
