Baby Led Weaning offering Radish for babies for the first time 6M+
Radish has antioxidants properties and rich in minerals like calcium, potassium and contains many nutrients that are good for skin, such as B-complex vitamins, vitamin C and zinc. These Vitamins and minerals helps beat cold and cough, helps recover from jaundice, fights constipation and boosts immunity.
Raw radish are spicy, little crisp, and quite zesty. But, when we Steam radishes, the spicy flavor is gone and makes them much easier to offer to Babies.
How to Introduce Radishes to Babies for Baby Led Weaning?
- Offer cooked radishes that have been Sliced.
- Finely grated raw radishes in various recipes like Radish Coriander Ragi Paratha.
How to serve Steamed Radish for Baby Led Weaning?
As a first food, Radish is extremely easy to cook and introduce. We bought White Radish from our local store.
Steps to prepare the radish:
- Wash Radish thoroughly and peel the outer skin.
- At 6 months you can offer bigger cuts lengthwise. The piece should be bigger than their palm as they can’t open their fist to eat that portion. If your baby is older than 9 months, you can cut them smaller at a size the baby is comfortable with.
- Steam the Radish pieces well till they are just soft. Personally I feel it gets easily overcooked if done in a pressure cooker and it’s better to avoid that route. For the first serving I preferred to go with the steaming route. You may also sauté the piece until well cooked.
When we first offered to S, He liked to taste and he went for the next piece too
